I was recently at a wedding where a DJ digital controller was being used to play the music. The DJ told me that most disc jockeys have progressed to digital controllers for convenience. It’s a lot easier than carrying around hundreds of CD’s or even records. It even operates similarly to an original mixer/turntable setup, making it familiar to use. Most digital controllers play mp3 or wave files, so as long as you can download music on a computer, you can operate this machine. Prices have become much more affordable as the technology has advanced. Depending on just what you’re looking for, there are hundreds of different makes and models of digital controllers. Some come with their own DJ software, some with accessory hardware like built-in soundcards and Audio Interface boxes, and some big enough to jam-out a nightclub or small enough to mix music at your home. Either way, I was impressed with what I heard. Songs transferred smoothly from one to the next with never a glitch. I advise anyone who is interested in hiring a DJ for a special event to inquire about what kind of system they use. You may end up with the wrong individual.
