Richard “Dick” Clark, widely referred to as America’s oldest teenager”, is a world renowned disc jockey who has hosted a number of long running programs like American Bandstand and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. In 1951, Dick Clark graduated from the University of Syracuse with degree in business. His remarkable rise to fame began in 1957 when the program American Bandstand started airing nationally. During the first episode, Clark interviewed Elvis Presley. American Bandstand become a major success, airing every weekday from 1957 – 1963 and weekly until 1987.
In 1972, Dick Clark began producing and hosting Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve. He continued hosting the program until 2004 after he suffered from a stroke. Since having the stroke in 2004, Clark’s professional activities have been limited due to ongoing speech difficulties. He has co-hosted the ABC New Year’s program with Ryan Seacrest, but in a very limited capacity.
